Marlow Bar
Founded by locals Mike DeBonville and Joe Schumacher in partnership with creative developer Wade McElroy, Marlow Bar overlooks Waller Creek and offers a seasonal cocktail menu along with rotating local beers. The back bar specializes in bourbon and mezcal drinks while still offering the classics—all dressed with local produce.

Owned by locals Melynda Nuss and Jose Skinner, the new bookstore opened in the former Malvern’s Book spot and focuses on works by small, independent presses in addition to comics and graphic novels, books in translation and more.

Gina’s on Congress
Located where former La Traviata called home, the new French- and Italian-inspired bistro will offer dishes such as pasta, tartare, carpaccio, mussels and frites, and more. The bistro will also offer wines from small vineyards and wineries, cocktails, and espresso drinks.

Wax Myrtle’s
Located on the fourth floor of the Thompson Austin and Tommie Austin hotels, the restaurant and bar space with a pool, deck and covered cabanas features American dishes with a Mediterranean twist. Starting in early October, Wax Myrtle’s began opening weekdays from 8-11 a.m. for visitors to use as a remote workspace with breakfast items, coffees and teas, all situated in a quiet, outlet-lined dining space.

The Sobering Center
The Sobering Center aims to aid the community by providing a safe alternative to jail or the emergency room for those needing to detox. Afterward, clients are then referred to community-based resources depending on their individual needs. Since its opening five years ago, the center has helped over 9,000 people.
