Two candidates have filed to run in each of the Kyle City Council races that will appear on the ballot in November. In the election for Place 3, incumbent Council Member Robert Rizo will face challenger Amanda Stark, currently a member of the Kyle Parks and Recreation Board. Rizo has only been in the position since May, when he won more than 50% of the vote in a special election with three other candidates in the race. The election was called after the unexpected resignation former Council Member Shane Arabie. In the election for Place 1, incumbent Council Member Dex Ellison will be challenged by Yvonne Flores-Cale, a paralegal and office manager who has lived in for Kyle seven year, according to her application. Ellison, former chair of the Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission and previous City Council candidate, was first elected in 2017. August 19 was the filing deadline to get a place on ballot but write-in candidates have until Aug. 23. The last day to register to vote is Oct. 7, and early voting begins Oct. 21. More information on the elections in Kyle can be found on the city's website.
