Four candidates submitted applications to run by the end of the March 4 filing period:
- Michelle Carey, a former Hays CISD board of trustees candidate, Kyle resident of 12 years and office manager, according to her application;
- Cody DeSalvo, a Kyle native and graduate of Lehman High School who is a member of the Hays CISD Calendar Committee;
- Stuart Kirkwood, a business consultant, member of the Kyle Civil Service Commission and city resident of 27 years; and
- Robert Rizo, who grew up in Kyle, ran for City Council in November and lost fairly narrowly to Rick Koch.

The last day to register to vote in the May 4 election is April 4.
