Four candidates file to run in Kyle City Council special election

There will be a full ballot for the May 4 special election to fill the Place 3 Kyle City Council seat, which was unexpectedly vacated by Shane Arabie. Four candidates submitted applications to run by the end of the March 4 filing period:

Michelle Carey, a former Hays CISD board of trustees candidate, Kyle resident of 12 years and office manager, according to her application;
Cody DeSalvo, a Kyle native and graduate of Lehman High School who is a member of the Hays CISD Calendar Committee;
Stuart Kirkwood, a business consultant, member of the Kyle Civil Service Commission and city resident of 27 years; and
Robert Rizo, who grew up in Kyle, ran for City Council in November and lost fairly narrowly to Rick Koch.

Community Impact Newspaper will continue to cover the race as it unfolds, and candidate Q&As will be published in the upcoming weeks. The last day to register to vote in the May 4 election is April 4.
