Update: Dex Ellison has received a majority of 816 votes after all votes were accounted for last night.

Runner-up Marco Pizana received 704 votes.

Voting totals are unofficial until canvassed.

Update:  With nearly all the polling location results in, Dex Ellison has won the Place 1 seat for Kyle City Council.

Ellison said he is ready to lead Kyle. 

"There are a lot of great, wonderful people living in this city," Ellison said. "What's next is doing the work that people of Kyle want me to do. I hope that I can put all of [the information Ellison learned from block walking] together and start to do the work that the citizens of Kyle need and be the representative that they want."

Ellison led Marco Pizana with 656 votes. Pizana received 45.56 percent of the votes with 551.

Place 1 candidate Pizana said its time to regroup before seeing what is next.

"I am meeting with my supporters and thanking them for all their help and votes," Pizana said. "I will continue on my mission of being a voice for my supporters."

Original: Shortly after the polls closed at 7 p.m. today, early voting and unofficial vote totals showed Kyle City Council place 1 candidate Dex Ellison leading.

Edging out opponent Marco Pizana, Ellison received 54.67 percent of the vote, or 439 votes, as of 7:12 p.m. Pizana received 364.

Voting totals are unofficial until canvassed.
