The mill and overlay work on the east side of Main Street in downtown Buda has finished, and contractor Lonestar Sitework is now shifting construction to the west side of the roadway, according to a Jan. 12 news release from the city.

The southbound lane of Main between Ash Street and Peach Street will remain closed as work continues.

Vehicles traveling east on RM 967 will be able to make a left onto Main to travel north but will be restricted from turning right, or into the southbound lane.

Traffic moving south on Main will continue to use a detour via San Antonio Street, after which vehicles can turn west on RM 967 or continue to Peach.

Truck traffic moving north should take FM 2770 to travel west, the city stated in the release.

The city also noted that downtown businesses will remain open, and that pedestrians crossing Main are encouraged to use existing crosswalks at Elm Street to the north and Peach Street to the south. Sidewalk access will also remain open.

The construction is part of an improvement project that will widen the roadway and provide dedicated turn lanes as well as broader sidewalks, signage and pavement striping for better pedestrian safety.
