The city of Kyle is inviting the community to participate in a road renaming contest for South Goforth Road, with a survey open until Feb. 24, according to a Feb. 10 news release.
The overview
Kyle city staff identified the South Goforth Road Project as a candidate for renaming after reviewing recent road construction projects.
While the road was originally designed to connect with the existing Goforth Road, changes to the project alignment now require a new name to prevent confusion with existing addresses and improve emergency response efficiency, according to the news release.

Residents can submit road name suggestions through the survey. Contest rules include:
- Names with profane, derogatory or discriminatory language will be disqualified.
- Submissions reflecting history, ethnic and cultural diversity, native wildlife, or individuals significant to Kyle will receive extra consideration.
- Proposed names will be reviewed to ensure they do not duplicate or closely resemble existing road names.
- Each submission is recommended to include an appropriate suffix, such as “Street,” “Road,” “Avenue” or “Boulevard.”
“All residents are encouraged to participate and be a part of shaping the future of our growing city!” Kyle officials said in the news release. “Whether it’s a name inspired by the land, the people or the natural surroundings, your suggestion could be the one that stands for generations to come.”
