Construction for The Merriman, an apartment complex located at 1301 Leah Ave. in San Marcos, is on track to be complete in August 2025, according to an email from Jacob Clark, a senior investment associate at Long View Equity.

The complex is being built at the former Starplex movie theater location, which was demolished in 2022.

The multifamily project broke ground in September 2023 and is being developed by Texas-based investment management company Long View Equity.

Clark said The Merriman’s first units should be available by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.

The Merriman will consist of 313 units across nine buildings. The complex will have a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units.

Residents will have access to a variety of amenities, including a pool, basketball and pickleball courts, a gym and a yoga studio, as well as a grab-and-go market, similar to what people see in hotel lobbies or airport kiosks. The Merriman will also have a dog park, and select units will come with private yards or patios.

“Our goal is that this project will simultaneously provide a luxury-style residential experience while helping to alleviate the increasing housing costs in the city,” Clark said in an email to Community Impact.
