Abuelita's Bakery Spot—locally owned by brother-sister duo Hector and Vanessa Rodriguez—celebrated the grand opening of its new Buda location at 606 Main St., on June 15.

The bakery opened its first location in the Kyle Windmill Center in 2022, and specializes in fresh mini pastries. Abuelita's Bakery Spot is also known for its weekly “drops,” which incorporate different designs and themes into concha.

Vanessa said they decided to open their second location in Buda because of the city's love for small business. The Buda location also has a larger kitchen space, which allows them to focus more on catering.

The Buda location has indoor seating and a small boutique featuring other locally owned small businesses. Vanessa said Abuelita's Boutique aims to help smaller business owners expand into the retail market as opposed to just attending events and market days.

Abuelita's Boutique features accessories and handmade jewelry from DollfaceShoppe and Belmontelora Handmade Jewelry, T-shirts from Steel Tigress Productions and stickers from Tia Jeni. The boutique also features all natural, handmade soaps from Virginia Louise Soap Co. and crochet items from Fi Marie Creations.

Abuelita's Bakery Spot sells breakfast tacos, frappes and hot and iced coffees.
