Brother and sister Hector and Vanessa Rodriguez along with family, friends, community members and city leaders celebrated the grand opening of their brick-and-mortar store Abuelita's Bakery Spot on May 31 at 21511 I-35, Ste. 101, Kyle.

The Rodriguez siblings began their business venture in December 2020 out of their home, and in September 2021 they opened the Abuelita's Bakery Spot food truck.

Without the support of the community, the store would not have been possible, Vanessa Rodriguez said.

Their family moved to Kyle about six years ago, she said, and there aren not many of them. But the community has taken them in and shown them what a family can be.

"This is a huge celebration for us as we see a new business offering a delight to our entire community," Kyle Chamber of Commerce CEO Julie Snyder said.

The menu at Abuelita's Bakery Spot features Mexican pastries inspired by their grandmother's homemade pastries, such as bunuelos, conchas and more. The menu will also continue to expand with lunch items, such as baked potatoes.

Customers can also shop and have their food delivered via DoorDash.
