Sweet Cakes 4 U, located at 302 S. Main St., Ste. 101, Buda, announced via social media Jan. 22 that it will be closing, though an exact date was not mentioned. The announcement comes just weeks before its 10-year anniversary.

Dolores Diaz turned her hobby into a business Feb. 1, 2013, by opening Sweet Cakes 4 U with her daughter, Victoria, at the Buda Mill & Grain Co. Over the years, the business grew in popularity and took on more staff.

However, the business has been struggling with staffing issues that have resulted in fluctuating hours of operation.

"It was a difficult and heavy decision to make, but we have decided to hang up our aprons and close shop," the post read. "We are hoping and working to make it to the end of spring of this year as we do not have a specific date of closure."

For the time being, customers can still shop cakes by the slice, whole cakes, cupcakes and other baked goods.
