Round Rock ISD student athletes will be able to add water polo to their list of extracurriculars with the start of the 2022-23 school year next fall.

The district announced Dec. 6 the sport would be added to offerings at Cedar Ridge, Round Rock and Westwood high schools, with a season running from August through October.

Also included in the announcement was news that the aquatic center is on track for a spring 2022 opening on the Cedar Ridge campus. The construction of an aquatic center with a $16.14 million price tag was approved in the RRISD 2018 bond election, along with many other facilities, including the new C.D. Fulkes Middle School that is under construction just behind the original C.D. Fulkes Middle School.

Additional information will be communicated by participating schools in the spring, according to the district.
