In partnership with the city of Round Rock, Lone Star Santas held a Caravan of Toys distribution May 7 at the Bob Bennett building, serving 28 families and a total of 60 children affected by the March tornado.

Joseph Brehm, Round Rock Director of Community Development, and Clem Webb, regional co-director of Lone Star Santas, organized the event, reaching out to the 800 households affected via postcard mailer and placing signs in the area advertising it. Families were welcomed by Santa and Mrs. Claus, and each child was able to select some toys, including stuffed animals, before taking a photo with Santa that was printed on the spot by the Lone Star Santas team.

"Being part of this was a true honor," Brehm said. "Seeing the eyes of children light up and the smile on their parents' faces was priceless. We cherished the opportunity to help people feel better during their disaster recovery."

The statewide group led by Webb travels across Texas, visiting cities affected by natural disasters to bring a sense of love, hope and joy to affected children. Webb said the Lone Star Santa mission is personally meaningful for him in multiple ways.

"There's a certain sense of helplessness in many situations where you see something happening, and you can't really do anything about it," Webb said. " This is one of those situations where you see it and you can do something about it."
