Construction on district projects to modernize campuses, enhance spaces for athletic and extracurricular programming, and improve infrastructure is underway in Round Rock ISD this summer.
The district shared a construction update Aug. 7 as crews work to ready campuses for the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
The details
All projects are funded by the $932 million bond package voters passed in 2024. This list is noncomprehensive.
CTE Center
- Project: RRISD will remodel a 200,000-square-foot former LegalZoom building into a central hub for career and technical education programs.
- Update: The district broke ground on the facility remodel over the summer.
- Timeline: summer 2026-summer 2027
- Cost: $51.7 million
Dragon Stadium
- Project: The competition stadium will have its turf field replaced, scoreboard and lighting upgraded, and undergo Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant improvements.
- Update: The track, turf and scoreboard were replaced this summer. LED light conversion was made last fall. Work on ADA improvements will continue through the end of 2028.
- Timeline: fall 2025-summer 2028
- Cost: $11.2 million
Bluebonnet Elementary School
- Project: This campus refresh includes replacing water bottle filling stations, installing a digital marquee, resealing and painting pavement, converting to LED lighting, and replacing interior stage curtains to comply with fire code. Other upgrades include renovations to interior walls, floors and restrooms.
- Update: The first phase of interior renovations will be completed in time for the 2026-27 school year.
- Timeline: fall 2025-fall 2028
- Cost: $5.5 million
Grisham Middle School
- Project: The campus will have its heating, ventilation and air conditioning system replaced as well as receive new roofing for the gym, updated floor and wall finishes, exterior window replacement, renovations for locker rooms and the coach’s office, a fine arts space refresh, a turf field conversion, and drainage improvements.
- Update: The first phase of interior renovations will be completed in time for the 2026-27 school year.
- Timeline: fall 2025-fall 2027
- Cost: $11.8 million
Cedar Valley Middle School
- Project: This school will receive plumbing, ceiling, wall finish, floor, parking, drainage and cafeteria improvements as well as a replacement of its HVAC system and repairs to its elevator. It will also have a water bottle filling station installed.
- Update: The roof replacement is set to be completed before the start of the 2026-27 school year.
- Timeline: fall 2025-fall 2028
- Cost: $15.7 million
What else?
The district’s bond team is coordinating with the Round Rock ISD Police Department to manage site circulation, traffic flow and safe navigation at campuses actively under construction, according to the district
