A Cedar Ridge High School senior has filed to run for Round Rock mayor.
On Monday, Josh Courture, 18, a lifelong resident of Round Rock, returned the necessary paperwork for the May 6 election.
He will face current Mayor Pro Tem Craig Morgan, who announced he was running for the mayor’s position when longtime Mayor Alan McGraw said he would not see re-election.
Local banker Hollis Bone is running for the City Council District 1 position Morgan currently holds, and Council Member Will Peckham is the lone District 4 candidate.
The deadline to file to run for office in the May election is Feb. 17. Any person interested in running for office must pick up a candidate packet from the city clerk’s office prior to filing. Packets are available 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
