The construction on an extension of Colorado Sand Drive received the green light from Pflugerville City Council July 10, with council members approving a contract with Patin Construction LLC for $6.6 million.

The details

Expected to begin work at the end of July, crews will work on a connection from Copper Mine Drive to just north of Lone Star Ranch Boulevard, including four new lanes and a roundabout, according to city staff.

“This is such a long time coming,” Place 4 City Council member Rudy Metayer said.

Originally estimated at only $3.9 million, the project received voter approval in the November 2018 transportation bond program and design of the roadway started in April 2019.

The extension is currently anticipated to be completed by winter 2025. However, right of way is still being finalized for one on the properties impacted.

“This is a great [new] access to the H-E-B,” Mayor Victor Gonzales said.
