In a nutshell
Council signed off on over $400,00 in lighting improvements as part of previous plans for Community Development Block Grant funding received by the city, dating back to fiscal years 2022-23. The CDBG is federal funding received by the city, intended for projects that benefit low and moderate-income households and neighborhoods.
An estimated 1,880 individuals living in the area will benefit from these improvements, according to a previous report from the city’s community development department.
The neighborhood’s streetlight spacing does not currently meet the city’s requirements, leaving gaps of darkness along sidewalks and trails.
After negotiations with Oncor, the city will be responsible for the infrastructure work needed to support the streetlights program, specifically the base and conduit for light structures. Oncor will handle the wiring and construct the actual light poles.
Triun will perform the work related to Oncor’s part of the project. Improvements will take roughly nine weeks to complete.
