The Keep Hutto Beautiful Foundation will host the Great Hutto Cleanup Oct. 26, giving area residents the opportunity to dispose of large items.

The gist

Residents can bring a variety of appliances and other large objects to the East Williamson County Higher Education Center to be properly disposed of.

The event is intended for area households and not for business or commercial waste. Items people may bring to the center include:
  • Appliances without Freon
  • Box springs
  • Brush and limbs
  • Carpet
  • Clothing
  • Document shredding
  • Fencing
  • Furniture
  • Household items
  • Lumber from small projects
  • Mattresses
  • Metal
  • Rugs
  • Toys
Items that will not be accepted during the cleanup event include:
  • Tires
  • Appliances with Freon
  • Batteries
  • Chemicals, dioxins or pesticides
  • Commercial waste
  • Rocks and concrete
  • Electronics, TVs and computers
  • Explosives, ammo and fireworks
  • Florescent light bulbs
  • Gas or propane cylinders
  • Liquids
  • Medical or pharmaceutical waste
  • Narcotics
  • Oil or oil products
  • Paints
