With 31 out of 31 Williamson County polling locations having reported unofficial results, incumbent Dan Thornton secured another three-year term for the Place 2 Hutto City Council seat. Incumbent Dana Wilcott will head to a runoff election against Evan Porterfield for the Place 5 seat, as they were the top two vote-getters.

Thornton narrowly won the race for Place 2, receiving 473, or 51.69% of total votes. Challenger Cory Denena finished with 442, or 48.31% of the vote.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone who voted, no matter who they voted for,” Thornton said after election results came in. “We have a lot of challenges in front of us in Hutto with infrastructure and I’m eager to get back to work.”

In the highly-contested race for Place 5, Wilcott secured 304, or 32.86% of the total votes. However, the city requires a 50% majority vote in order to win the seat.
  • Evan Porterfield finished with 174, or 18.81% of the vote
  • Marcus Coleman finished with 153, or 16.64% of the vote
  • Brandon DeLeon finished with 152, or 16.43% of the vote
  • Nicole Calderone finished with 142, or 15.35% of the vote
A runoff election will be held June 15 for the Place 5 seat on Hutto’s City Council.

Early voting results are in for the May 4 election for Hutto City Council Place 3 and Place 5.


Early results show incumbent Dan Thornton with a narrow lead in his bid for Hutto City Council Place 3.

Thornton has received 320, or 55.94%, of the early votes, while challenger Cory Denena has received 44.06% of the votes with 252 ballots cast.

Meanwhile, incumbent Dana Wilcott leads the race for Hutto City Council Place 5, with 202, or 34.65% of votes. Results from challengers are as follows:
  • Evan Porterfield with 110, or 18.87% of the vote
  • Marcus Coleman with 97, or 16.64% of the vote
  • Brandon DeLeon with 88, or 15.09% of the vote
  • Nicole Calderone with 86, or 14.75% of the vote
City Council members are elected for 3 year staggered terms.

There are also several charter amendments on the ballot:
  • Proposition A has received 455, or 79.41% of votes in favor
  • Proposition B has received 402, or 70.65% of votes in favor
  • Proposition C has received 508, or 88.35% of votes in favor
  • Proposition D has received 378, or 65.40% of votes in against
  • Proposition E has received 484, or 85.36% of votes in favor
  • Proposition F has received 312, or 55.12% of votes in favor
  • Proposition G has received 354, or 62.54% of votes in favor
  • Proposition H has received 370, or 65.95% of votes in favor
  • Proposition I has received 399, or 72.68% of votes in favor
  • Proposition J has received 433, or 80.04% of votes in favor
  • Proposition K has received 324, or 58.70% of votes in favor
  • Proposition L has received 415, or 75.05% of votes in favor
  • Proposition M has received 323, or 57.58% of votes in favor
  • Proposition N has received 433, or 77.46% of votes in favor
  • Proposition O has received 455, or 82.43% of votes in favor
  • Proposition P has received 370, or 67.52% of votes in favor

In early voting, there were 16,996 ballots cast countywide, which represents roughly 3.94% of Williamson County's 431,845 registered voters.

Prior to election day, voter statistics for Williamson County indicate a decrease in total early voter turnout, with just under 4% of registered voters participating in this year’s election.

However, totals from ballots cast May 4 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.

For context during the last May election in 2023, roughly 9.22%, or a total of 33,566 people, voted county wide—including both early and election day voters—out of the 364,020 registered in the county.
