Renovations to Hutto High School are expected to continue through 2027, according to an update from the engineering firm for the project shared in April.

What you need to know

Bond-funded renovations to HHS are tentatively slated for completion by about March 2027, said Casey Sledge of Sledge Engineering on April 24, although that could change as crews work to complete multiple projects under construction.

Work to modernize the campus first began in 2022, using funding from the 2019 bond.

The details

Sledge said crews are actively working to construct the steel frame for the competition gym, and that expansions to parking for the campus and adjacent stadium are substantially complete. The district is also in the process of ordering equipment for career and technology education spaces included in the modernization.

About the project

Funded by $25.6 million from the 2019 bond and $68 million from the 2023 bond, the renovations are part of a modernization project to enhance facilities for high school programs, including:
  • Fine arts
  • Robotics lab, audio and visual technology classrooms
  • Air Force JROTC
  • Health sciences
  • Auto mechanics
  • Agricultural mechanics and welding
  • A new competition gym
  • Additional dressing facilities for student athletes
  • Improvements to other architectural finishes.
