Pflugerville ISD elementary students could be impacted by new attendance zones in 2027-28 as the district's Rezoning Task Force works to solidify a boundary map recommendation ahead of four elementary closures.
Rachel Naugle, PfISD's director of school improvement and the rezoning task force facilitator, provided an update on the rezoning process in a Sept. 25 email.
Community members will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft maps at a Sept. 29 public hearing and through an ongoing ThoughtExchange survey.
Some context
The PfISD board unanimously voted to close Dessau, Parmer Lane, Pflugerville and Windermere elementary schools at the end of the 2026-27 school year as part of its ongoing district optimization efforts.
The Rezoning Task Force, composed of parents, community members and district staff, launched this semester in order to find campuses for students impacted by the closures and help balance enrollment across all other campuses.
Naugle said the task force has reviewed a variety of draft rezoning maps. At its Sept. 22 meeting, "Map 5" received 12 out of 13 task force votes, while "Map 9" received all 13 task force votes.

Naugle said that because the task force is looking at zoning boundaries across the district, attendance zones could shift even for campuses not closing. Both maps adjust zones for Carpenter, Dearing, Hidden Lake, Mott, Murchison and Rowe Lane elementaries, while using major roads as boundaries to keep neighborhoods together.

Pflugerville ISD
This map divides Parmer Lane students among Northwest, Copperfield and River Oaks. Bilingual students in the Northwest zone would attend River Oaks.
This map sends most Dessau students to Delco and a small group to Wieland.
This map sends most Pflugerville students to Wieland and Brookhollow. Bilingual students would attend Highland Park.
This map sends most Windermere students to Timmerman, with smaller groups going to Caldwell and Highland Park. Some current Timmerman students would shift to Spring Hill.
Naugle said Map 5 keeps most Dessau students together and Pflugerville students closer to home, but would put River Oaks over capacity.

Pflugerville ISD
This map sends Parmer Lane students that are north of Parmer Lane to Northwest. Bilingual students in the Northwest zone would attend River Oaks.
This map sends more Dessau students to Wieland and fewer to Delco.
This map sends Pflugerville students to Timmerman, including bilingual students, and no students to Brookhollow.
This map sends a large share of Windermere students to Caldwell, a small group to Brookhollow, and no students to Highland Park. A small part of Caldwell's current zone would shift to Spring Hill.
Naugle said Map 9 spreads enrollment more evenly, keeps more Windermere students together, and could better absorb new housing growth near Dessau.

A public hearing will be held Sept. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the PfISD board room, located at 1401 West Pecan St. The meeting will be recorded and posted online.
Community members are also invited to respond to the ThoughtExchange survey to provide feedback on the draft maps.
Looking ahead
Naugle said the task force will review public hearing and survey feedback, and consider map revisions after the Oct. 12-16 fall break.
A recommendation will then go to the district's executive cabinet and the board of trustees, with the goal to finalize zones before winter break so families have time to plan for next year.
District officials are planning other community engagement efforts ahead of the consolidated campuses opening in 2027-28, including opportunities in the spring for families to co-create the vision for receiving campuses, and final readiness assessments and welcome events in the summer.
