Ahead of Pflugerville ISD's first day of school on Aug. 13, here are some things you need to know before the school year starts, including school safety apps, enrolling in the free or reduced lunch program and taking advantage of the Sales Tax Holiday for school supply shopping.

Back to school night

Students and their families are invited to meet their teacher and tour their campus on Aug. 9.
  • Elementary schools: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Middle schools and high schools: 5-7 p.m.
Back-to-school shopping

Texas’ Sales Tax Holiday will take place Aug. 9-11. A full list of qualifying items that will be exempt from state sales tax during the holiday, including clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks, can be found here.

School supply lists PfISD elementary and middle schools can be found here. High school lists will be distributed during the first week of school.

Immunizations and medications

Texas pre-K-12 students are required to have several immunizations before the school year begins, including polio, measles, tetanus, meningitis and hepatitis vaccines. More information on the required shots, along with free or low-cost options, can be found here.

Per the district website, in order for school nurses to administer medication to students with daily medical needs, a doctor must complete and return a form requesting medication administration. A food allergy information and anaphylaxis emergency care plan must also be submitted.

School breakfast and lunch

Breakfast is free for all students and reduced lunch costs $0.40 at all campuses. Information on how to apply for free or reduced meals can be found here.

Additionally, five elementary campuses and two middle school campuses will provide free lunch to all students through the Community Eligibility Provision program.

Regular school lunch prices at all other campuses are as follows:
  • Elementary schools: $2.90 for students, $4.75 for teachers and visitors
  • Middle and high schools: $3.15 for students, $4.75 for teachers and visitors
School safety

PfISD utilizes Anonymous Alerts, a system that allows for anonymous reporting of behaviors on campuses. Reports can include concerns with:
  • Bullying and cyberbullying
  • Depression
  • Dating violence
  • Drug or alcohol use
  • School threats
  • Weapons on campus
The anonymous reports can be made here, or through the app, using "pfisd" as both the login and password.

Parents and guardians are automatically opted in to receive timely and relevant district updates via SMS text messaging using the contact information tied to their enrolled student. More information on the service, or how to opt out of receiving messages, can be found here.

Families can also opt in to receive real-time information on their student's bus via the Stopfinder app. The app can show their student's bus schedule, send push notifications related to any schedule changes and provide real-time information on the location of their bus. Multiple buses can be tracked for families who have children who do not ride the same bus.

Invitations to join the app are periodically sent out via the email on file. Email the Transportation Department at [email protected] if you have not received a Stopfinder invitation.
