Two-minute impact
Per the release, qualifying schools can operate the Community Eligibility Provision to provide breakfast and lunch to all of its students and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free and reduced-price meals.
The seven participating campuses include Barron, Delco, Dessau, Northwest and River Oaks elementary schools, and Dessau and Westview middle schools. Families at these campuses must complete and submit a socio-economic form on SKYWARD here.
Students at other PfISD campuses can still participate in the regular free and reduced lunch program. In order to qualify for free or reduced-priced meals, families must submit an application here each school year. Printed forms are also available at the PfISD Food Service Office at 1101 Picadilly Drive, Pflugerville. Applications are available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Per the release, the following criteria will be used to determine a student's eligibility for free or reduced-price benefits:
- If their household income is at or below income eligibility levels
- If their household receives Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations benefits
- Their status as foster child, homeless, runaway, migrant or displaced by a declared disaster
- Their enrollment in Head Start or Even Start
In the event of an unexpected circumstance, such as a household member becoming unemployed or the size of the household increases, families should contact their campus, as these changes could make students eligible for benefits if the new household income falls at or below the current income eligibility levels.
Additionally, breakfast is free to all students on every campus, regardless of socioeconomic status.
