The overview
Council’s approval follows a previous development agreement the city entered into in September with developer Urbana, which intends to build 240 residential units on the property.
As part of the services agreement, the city will provide emergency services and street maintenance, while the community will be connected to the Jonah Special Utility District water system.
“[Urbana will] pay property taxes in the city, they’ll pay impact fees in the city and they’ll have to follow the development code, per the development agreement with the city,” Mayor Mike Snyder said. “Otherwise, without doing this, they can do whatever they want to do.”
While the tract of land annexed into the city is zoned for multifamily use, city code allows for single-family, for-rent housing. The neighborhood will include separate housing units for each floor plan, small yards and no shared walls.
