Following the resignation of former Hutto Police Chief Paul Hall, the city announced it has hired Jim Stuart to serve as interim police chief until a new full-time chief is named.

Stuart previously served with the University of Texas Police Department and the Round Rock Police Department. He retired from his assistant police chief position in Round Rock earlier this year and intends to return to retirement once Hutto finds a new chief, according to the announcement.

In the meantime, Staurt will lead the department alongside Assistant Police Chief Cody Cazalas.

The city is in the process of selecting a firm to lead the recruiting process for the new chief. The announcement states there will be opportunities for public input along the way.
