In partnership with the Hutto Resource Center Food Pantry, the Hutto Public Library will accept food donations throughout the month of November in exchange for late fee forgiveness.

For each accepted item a patron donates, the library will forgive $1 in late fees. Having a late fee is not required to donate; donations made by those with no late fees will apply toward another patron's fees.

Library Manager Colleen Tierney said when the library offered this same program last year, it received approximately 370 pounds of food and forgive roughly $450 in fines.

"This is an opportunity for members of our community who are having a hard time paying off their library fines to also benefit the community by donating to this food bank at a time when they really could use replenishing their shelves," Tierney said.
