Updated Jan. 23 at 1:29 p.m. to include Feb. 1 opening date of JuiceLand's US 183 location.

Here are five things to know this week if you live in or around Northwest Austin.

1. CAMPO open houses

There will be 10 open house events over the next two weeks as the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization develops its 2045 long-range plan, which includes transportation projects from cities and counties as well as the Texas Department of Transportation. CAMPO staffers reached out to all cities and counties in its planning area to incorporate their existing pedestrian and bicycle plans and data.

An open house from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Park Public Library, 550 Discovery Blvd., Cedar Park, will include information on the Near Northwest Case Study, which analyzes pedestrian and bicyclist connections along US 183 in Northwest Austin and southern Cedar Park.

2. Notable openings

RM 620, Ste. 310, Austin, with classes for children ages 3 1/2 through fifth grade in acting, musical theater and improvisation Monday through Thursday after school and on Saturdays. ZACH will host a spring break camp for elementary-age students March 13-17 and will start summer camps June 9.

JuiceLand is expanding in Northwest Austin. Its newest location opens Feb. 1 at 13096 N. US 183, Bldg. A, Austin, bringing the company’s total number of stores to 20.

Baylor Scott & White Health opens a clinic Monday at 2608 Brockton Drive, east of The Domain off Burnet Road. The facility will open with 10,000 square feet of space with room to expand to about 17,000 square feet. The health provider also plans to open a clinic in Central Austin and is developing plans for Pflugerville's first hospital.

3. School district updates

Round Rock ISD trustees voted Jan. 19 to accept the resignation of Terri Romere, who held the board's Place 4 position since 2010. Trustees are expected to decide this week whether they will appoint a replacement or call a special election for the now-vacant seat. RRISD also released a proposed 2017-18 academic calendar, which includes an earlier school start date than in previous years, and is accepting public comment on the proposal until Feb. 6.

Pflugerville ISD will have some new school attendance boundaries following a vote by the district's trustees last week. Here are some things to know about the changes.

Both RRISD and Austin ISD will be among the first school districts invited to apply to The Holdsworth Center, an Austin-based leadership institute for public school administrators created through a $100 million investment from Charles Butt, CEO and chairman of H-E-B. Butt announced the center's creation last week.

4. At-risk student scholarships

Simon Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for at-risk high school students, is looking for scholarship applicants living near Barton Creek Square Mall, The Domain, Lakeline Mall and the surrounding areas. An application period will continue until March 1.

The foundation, which partners with public schools to open dropout-recovery academies inside Simon shopping malls, awarded $1.2 million to 300 students nationwide last year.

Students can apply for scholarships online.
