Baylor Scott & White Health, which was recently confirmed to be developing plans for Pflugerville's first hospital, will open two new clinics in Austin later this month, including one downtown and one near The Domain.

The news was first reported Friday by the Austin Business Journal.

The health provider, which is the largest nonprofit health care organization in Texas, will open a clinic Jan. 23 at 2608 Brockton Drive, east of The Domain off Burnet Road in North Austin. The facility will open with 10,000 square feet of space with room to expand to about 17,000 square feet.

Another clinic, 6,000 square feet in size, is set to open Jan. 30 at 200 E. Cesar Chavez St. in Central Austin, on the ground floor of the parking garage east of skyscraper One Eleven. That clinic is expected to grow to 10,000 square feet.

The downtown clinic will employ about 20-30 people, and the North Austin location will have up to 50 employees once fully staffed, according to Colleen Sundquist, a vice president with Baylor Scott & White.

The Dallas-based health provider has been growing its Central Texas presence, recently opening clinics at 5000 W. Slaughter Lane, Austin, and at 1700-B S. RR 620, Lakeway. Baylor Scott & White clinics offer general medical care, wellness and preventive care, lab testing and x-ray services, according to the organization.

Baylor Scott & White formed following the 2013 merger of Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare.

The organization includes 47 hospitals, more than 5,800 doctors and about 35,000 employees.
