Elizabeth Christian, the founder and owner of Elizabeth Christian Public Relations, announced March 31 she sold the firm to longtime President Kristin Marcum.

Under its new ownership, the firm will be called ECPR. Marcum will become the firm’s next CEO, while Christian will stay on board in an advisory role.

Christian started the Austin-based company in 1995, and in the years since, it has grown to represent clients, including the Austin Board of Realtors, the Austin Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Austin Alliance, Google, St. David’s HealthCare and many others.

ECPR is located at 8008 Spicewood Lane, Austin.

In a release, Christian—a fourth-generation Austin resident and wife of former Austin Mayor Bruce Todd, who died in December—said she will make the transition seamless for clients.

Financial details of the acquisition were not available.

“I could not be happier for the opportunity to sell this firm to [Marcum] because I am confident that she will preserve the legacy of the business while taking it to new heights,” Christian said in the release.

Marcum began at ECPR as an intern in 1999 before moving up the ranks to president and firm shareholder, the release said. Marcum is involved in the Austin community as a board member and volunteer for several local organizations.

“Being at Elizabeth’s side over the last 20 years and helping her build ECPR has been a privilege, and now I’m humbled by this opportunity to acquire the business from her,” Marcum said in the release.
