After closing the Mueller location this summer, Blue Starlite Drive-In owner Josh Frank announced the grand opening of his newest location in North Austin set for Sept. 29.

Blue Starlite offers an intimate experience as a limited number of vehicles are allowed at each viewing. Those attending must have a ticket before they are allowed entry, which can be purchased online.

Frank said some of the movie genres offered include childhood favorites, classics, indie films, art house, cult favorites and more.

“We were looking to grow the outdoor moviegoing experience for Central Texas, so we knew that our next location would need better accessibility, bar service and possibilities for overnight events,” Frank said in a news release issued Sept. 21. “After an exhaustive, years-long search, we are thrilled to have found the type of space we’ve been looking for with old Austin character and great on-site partners to collaborate with ... all while supporting this important Austin institution."

Founded by Frank in 2009, Blue Starlite also has a drive-in downtown at 300 San Antonio St., Austin, on the rooftop parking garage.
