Round Rock OKs alcohol sales in The District
Round Rock City Council approved an exemption to allow alcohol sales at The District, an upcoming mixed-use development. The sitewide variance was requested by developer Mark IV Capital as the property line is within 300 feet of the IDEA Public Schools Round Rock Tech campus, a distance in which city ordinance prohibits the sale of alcohol.

GFiber breaks ground in Georgetown, plans 2027 service launch
GFiber internet service is one step closer to being available for Georgetown residents after a groundbreaking event Sept. 23 at the Light and Waterworks District Plaza, according to a news release from the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. The event marked a milestone for gFiber, formerly Google Fiber, as it starts installation in Georgetown.

Lammes Candies returns under new owners, with holiday preorders open now
Lammes Candies, the Austin candy maker founded in 1885 on Congress Avenue, is back in business two months after its last store closed. Fort Worth-based Delightful Development Co. acquired the brand in partnership with the Lamme family, according to a Sept. 29 news release. The family announced in April that it was closing the business after 141 years, as Community Impact previously reported.

A Bastrop County homeowner with the county’s median taxable homestead value of $290,103 would owe an estimated $1,321.13—$77.46 more—under the county’s adopted fiscal year 2026-27 tax rate.
