The new location for IBM’s space in Austin was announced June 20.

IBM will serve as the anchor for a new 507,200-square-foot development in The Domain at 11901 N. MoPac, Austin, according to a news release from CBRE.

IBM will relocate from its two existing offices near The Domain into two interconnected 14-story buildings planned by Hines, a global real estate and property manager. The prelease agreement, arranged by CBRE, cements IBM as a major tenant of the upcoming development.

“This new location offers an opportunity to create a modern new experience for Austin-based IBM employees,” said Joanne Wright, IBM senior vice president of transformation and operations, in a news release. “Our vision is to create an environment where employees can gather to collaborate and innovate with colleagues and our clients.”

The new facility is slated to open in 2027 and will feature amenity decks, private balconies, outdoor sports amenities, a conference center and a fitness center.

Plans for IBM to transition to a new space were revealed in 2022 by public permits, and confirmed by Community Impact in February.

“This project reflects a clear vision into what the future of the office looks like,” Hines Senior Managing Director Philip Croker said in the news release. “Hines and IBM, both global organizations, share a lot of symmetry in their perspectives of what the office represents going forward, and this project will deliver an environment that all parties will be proud of well into the future.”
