1. Justin Lane street reconstruction


Crews are installing nearly 1,000 feet of water lines on Justin Lane from Grover to Woodrow avenues through early- to mid- March. The project entails reconstruction of Justin from Burnet Road to Reese Lane and water line improvements from Burnet to North Lamar Boulevard.


Timeline: October 2016-October 2017
Cost: $5.3 million
Funding sources: 2000 Proposition 1 Transportation Mobility Improvements (street improvements), 2012 Proposition 12 Transportation and Mobility (street and bridge), AWU Commercial Paper



2. East Riverside Drive corridor improvements


East Riverside Drive is reduced to two westbound lanes from west of Lakeshore Boulevard to Shore District Drive as a city contractor completes the last phase of the project, which entails the creation of a pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly public space. Work will also include the installation of rain gardens to improve water quality. Once completed, the contractor will pave Lakeshore and the westbound lanes of Riverside.


Timeline: July 2016-spring 2017
Cost: $814,000
Funding sources: 2012 Transportation and Mobility Bond



3. Extended lane reduction on FM 969


For about six months, traffic on FM 969, or East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Tannehill Lane and Regency Drive at the US 183 interchange. This will allow construction crews to build a new, wider bridge at US 183 as part of the US 183 South project.


Timeline: Feb. 3-August 2017 (extended lane reduction)
Cost: $743 million (overall project cost)
