For more than three years, the owners of Springdale Farm have worked with the city and surrounding neighbors to reach a compromise on what operations and services the farm can provide. On Aug. 20, City Council approved a zoning appeal, with District 1 Council Member Ora Houston casting the lone “no” vote, that allows the farm to host up to 22 events per year that each feature no more than 150 people and up to five events per year that host more than 150 people. Springdale Farm has hosted educational tours, farmers markets and weddings. Neighbors who opposed the appeal said the farm’s events cause parking and noise issues in the community.
