A new vision and design for Congress Avenue is now underway with design beginning in 2016.[/caption] Future improvements could be made to downtown Congress Avenue based on input received during two upcoming public meetings. The city of Austin has partnered with the Downtown Austin Alliance and other stakeholders to host the meetings and gather community input to help shape the new vision for the corridor from Riverside Drive to the Capitol, according to a news release. The design stage will begin in 2016, at which point more input will be sought from businesses, residents and community members. The project will be funded using 2012 bond funds, according to the news release.
