Austin City Council UPDATED 10:35 a.m. CST 2/12/15 Austin City Council approved the council committee appointments laid out by Mayor Steve Adler. All council members voted in favor of the committee appointments, with District 6 Councilman Don Zimmerman abstaining from the vote.
After discussions with each Austin City Council member about his or her area of interest, Mayor Steve Adler announced his council committee assignments Feb. 9. The council committees were created as part of a new structure created and adopted by the new 11-member council adopted during its first meeting Jan. 29. There are 10 committees with four council members each. Only the Austin Energy committee will include all council members. Adler and his staff have not yet announced or released a schedule forwhen the committees will begin meeting.
