According to an official statement by the Coburns posted to the company's website and Facebook page, brewing operations for the Missouri City brewery ceased Dec. 30. The brewery officially ended business operations Jan. 31.
"FBBC has been brewing high quality beers for over two years, and has been a proud contributor to many activities and charities in the local community," the announcement stated. "We gave it all we had to build a brand that we were proud of."
Sharon and Ty opened the brewery in November 2012 to bring the art of craft brewing to Fort Bend County and was also the county's first craft brewery. During its first year of operation, Fort Bend Brewing Co. distributed more than 1,000 barrels of craft beer to nearly 200 restaurants, bars and retail locations around the world through the efforts of a small full-time crew and a handful of community volunteers.
The Coburns cited solely "various circumstances" in the statement as to the reason for the closure of the brewery.
"To all of our supportive retailers and patrons, we sincerely thank you for your support during the past years, you made it worthwhile," the announcement stated. "To our awesome volunteers, we couldn't have done it without you. With the warmest gratitude from the bottom of our heart, thank you, we will miss you. On to the next chapter."
