The city of Plano hosts Learn 2 Live Green Year-Round Learning Adventures with a collection event and compost fair Nov. 15 at the parking lot of Chase Oaks Church, 281 Legacy Drive, from 9 a.m.–noon.

Several partner organizations will help collect items from closets, attics and garages such as bikes, books, clothing items, prescription glasses, phones, blankets and sheets. The compost fair includes hands-on demonstrations about recycling yard trimming and food waste into lawn and garden nutrients. Participants may also purchase a C.E. Shepherd compost bin at a discount of $20 after completing all compost fair stations.

The event features a free document shredding service by DFWshredding.com, and both children and adults will have the opportunity to operate a recycling truck and meet shelter pets from New Leash on Life Mobile Animal Shelter.
