Lake Travis Fire Rescue firefighters joined Bee Cave Police Department officers and local members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in the area's inaugural 9/11/01 Memorial Stair Climb.
Dressed in full gear, the responders climbed 110 steps of Garage A in Bee Cave's Hill Country Galleria to commemorate the World Trade Center's 110 flights of stairs that the New York City Port Authority firefighters climbed on Sept. 11, 2001.
"I ask each of you to carry those first responders in your hearts and minds today," Bee Cave Police Lt. William Pitman said to the officers before the climb.
He said that 421 first responders died and more than 2,000 were injured during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
