Those interested in running for City Council or Georgetown ISD board of trustees seats can now submit their applications. The filing period began Jan. 29 and will be open until Feb. 28.

City Council seats up for election include District 2, held by Keith Brainard, and District 6, held by Rachael Jonrowe. The mayor's seat will also be on the ballot.

Marlene McMichael and Dale Ross have both announced their candidancies for the mayoral race, and Jonrowe announced she will seek re-election.

The mayor's seat is elected at-large, while City Council members must live in the district they represent.

The GISD board of trustees Place 4 seat, held by Fred Barhydt, and Place 5 seat, held by Mike Hewlett, will also be on the ballot. Hewlett announced Jan. 21 that he would not be seeking re-election, but Barhydt announced his re-election bid.

Melanie Dunham said Jan. 21 that she would seek the Place 5 seat.

The local elections will be May 10.
