Wanderland owner Kelly Rath said his shop is becoming a savior for last-minute Christmas shoppers.
"You'll be able to find something unique, different and you can cover a lot of people here—we get that a lot," Rath said.
The shop has a wide range of gifts and one-of-a-kind products made from reused materials. The North Lamar Boulevard location recently celebrated its five-year anniversary after opening on Black Friday in 2008.
"When we moved to Austin, we realized we hadn't seen a store quite like what we were thinking of, so we decided to do it ourselves," he said.
Rath takes pride in Wanderland's merchandise made using recycled goods, which vary from a bike-chain bowl, a recycled flip-flop floor mat and a pop-top purse.
"People keep getting better and better ideas for this stuff," he said.
The family-run business also sells various garden accessories, children's toys, pet products, jewelry and other one-of-a-kind items. Most of the merchandise is found by Rath's wife, Christie.
"We have a different approach compared to a lot of other businesses," Rath said. "We get new merchandise when we can. But when we see something we want, it's like, 'We have to have to have this thing,'" he said.
Wanderland also has a location in the Arbor Trails shopping center on William Cannon Drive.
