The final three designs in the Seaholm Intake Facility design competition were announced Aug. 12.

"[The competition] was a great vision-casting for the community," said Lyn Estabrook, project manager with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department, which is overseeing the competition for the facility. "The creative people here in Austin have some great ideas."

The competition, a partnership among the city of Austin Parks and Recreation Department, the Austin Parks Foundation, The Trail Foundation and American Institute of Architects Austin, opened May 25, and the city received more than 230 registrations and 76 submissions. The competition drew the attention of both local and international designers. The final 10 designs were announced in July.

City officials said they will be requesting proposals for public-private partnerships for construction in the early winter.

The final three designs include:

  • "Link" by Gumbully
  • "Lakehouse" by BOKA Powell + Design Workshop
  • "Intake" by Gensler Team George
