Central Health is asking residents to provide input about proposed initiatives included in its 2014–16 strategic plan for health care in Travis County.
An online survey is available until Aug. 6 for Travis County residents to provide their feedback about the draft of the strategic plan. Residents may also attend an Aug. 6 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Central Health offices, 1111 E. Cesar Chavez St. Spanish interpreters will be present. Central Health is the Travis County health care district.
Christie Garbe, vice president planning and communications at Central Health, said the organization is looking for more ideas on how it can provide better health services to those in need.
"We believe that community involvement and the voice of our residents is very important in helping to shape our plans for the future," Garbe said. "The plan is a bit to digest. We are asking people to make an investment in reading it prior to answering the questions."
The draft of the strategic plan focuses on four priorities:
Providing patients with access to affordable high-quality health care that is centered around their needs
Promoting wellness education and illness prevention efforts
Increasing enrollment for health coverage, which includes options from the Health Insurance Marketplace. Garbe said The Health Insurance Marketplace are health insurance options available as a result of the Affordable Care Act.
Ensuring that facilities, IT systems and clinical protocols are upgraded to prepare for growth in Travis County.
Many of the initiatives in the strategic plan are collaborations with other nonprofit organizations, including the Community Care Collaborative. The CCC is a newly formed organization by Central Health and Seton Healthcare Family and provides a continuum of services to low-income uninsured individuals. The CCC is still in development and will be for the next three years, Garbe said.
The strategic plan is scheduled to be adopted by Central Health's board of trustees Sept. 11.
