Overview

Tarrytown is located west of MoPac and is bounded by Lake Austin Boulevard on its southern and western sides, and 35th Street on the northern end. The location gives residents access to downtown, Lake Austin, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and many Austin hot spots. Because of this, homes in the area have maintained their value.

Tarrytown is a quiet neighborhood with a variety of homes ranging in style from 1920s bungalows to stately homes priced at more than $2 million. Many of these estates have large lots and some sit on Lake Austin.

Nearby Casis Elementary School was given an Exemplary rating by the Texas Education Agency. There is a private middle school, The Girls School of Austin, for girls through the eighth grade.

The neighborhood is home to two lakefront restaurants, Hula Hut and Abel's on the Lake. Mozart's Coffee Shop is also located on the lake. There are other dining opportunities in the neighborhood, such as Maudie's Milagro, Mangia Chicago Pizza and 24-hour diner Magnolia Cafe.
