Quality Seafood, an Austin staple for more than seven decades, has been busy with several new developments.
Owner Carol Huntsberger, a former Mary Kay Cosmetics sales director, said eco-friendly to-go packaging is now being used, and the market has also been experimenting with new menu items.
In 2011, the Summer Salad Series, which featured a variety of health-conscious salads, was a success, the restaurant said. The new Pasta de Pesci winter series is also proving to be a huge hit as well, as customers are snatching up its oven- and grill-ready prepared dishes.
While about half of Quality Seafood's business is derived from its wholesale division, many retail customers often end up grabbing a meal at the restaurant, which includes a full oyster bar and wide selection of beer and wine. Huntsberger credits that diversification for the business's current stability.
