As New Braunfels Utilities officials continue to work on the Castell Avenue East 24-inch water line improvement project, there will be several intersections temporarily closed, according to a press release.

• Castell Avenue and San Antonio Street will be closed through March 10.
• Castell Avenue and Coll Street will be closed through March 22.
• Castell Avenue and Jahn Street will be closed March 9 and March 10.
• Castell Avenue and Butcher Street will be closed March 14 and March 15.
• Castell Avenue and Garden Street will be closed March 16 and March 17.
• San Antonio Street will have a partial lane closure from the intersection at Castell Avenue to the Main Plaza on March 23-24. Traffic will continue to flow in both directions.

The project itself is designed to improve infrastructure and increase water transmission capacity and reliability by replacing aged water lines. This is expected to reduce water main breaks while lowering long-term repair costs.

Vehicles should expect barriers at the intersections with posted detour routes. If weather permits, the project is expected to be completed by May.
