Jessica Cisneros has a slight lead over incumbent Henry Cuellar in the Democratic primary for the 28th Congressional District based on early totals.
As of 10:20 p.m., Cisneros had 13,080 votes, or 48.33%, to Cuellar’s 12,752, or 47.11%. Tannya Judith Benavides came in third with 1,234 votes, or 4.56%.
Cisneros previously challenged 10-term incumbent Cuellar in 2020 for the nomination.
In the seven-way Republican primary for the 28th Congressional District, Cassy Garcia is leading the pack with 3,583 votes, or 23.34% of the vote. The closest candidate to her is Ed Cabrera with 2,178 votes, or 14.19% of the vote.
No polling locations are reporting election day results.
