Voters who opted to vote in either party’s March primary can only vote in the runoff election of the same party, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office, though voters who did not vote in the March primary can still vote in the runoffs.
In addition to the statewide runoffs, Republican voters in Comal County and the western half of Hays County will decide who faces Democrat Justin Calhoun in the runoff election for state House District 73. Barron Casteel, a former New Braunfels mayor, and Carrie Isaac of Dripping Springs are facing off for the spot on the ballot.
In the same runoff, Tracie Wright-Reneau will face Mark E. Cusack for the 207th Judicial District race.
Republican voters residing in Congressional District 35 will also decide who will face Democratic nominee Greg Casar in the general election. Dan McQueen and Michael Rodriguez were the top two vote-earners in the 10-way primary race.
In the portion of New Braunfels that falls within Guadalupe County, Republican voters will choose between Cassy Garcia and Sandra Whitten for the District 28 race for Congress.
In that same race on the Democratic runoff, voters will choose between incumbent U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, and challenger Jessica Cisneros. Cisneros previously challenged the nine-term congressman in the 2020 primary.
Democratic voters in District 21 will choose who will face off against U.S. Rep Chip Roy, R-Austin, in November. Claudia Zapata and Ricardo Villarreal emerged as the top two vote-earners in the March primary.
Early voting runs from May 16-20 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Comal County Elections Office, 396 N. Seguin Ave., and at the Comal County Offices, Goodwin Annex, 1297 Church Hill Drive.
For Guadalupe County residents in New Braunfels, early voting will take place at the Central Texas Technology Center, 2189 FM 758 and Redemptive Grace Ministries, 2240 FM 725.
