New Braunfels ISD calls $313M May bond election

New Braunfels ISD voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots for or against a $313 million bond election that will potentially fund major high school campus projects, athletic facilities and technology throughout the district.

The NBISD board of trustees voted unanimously to call the bond election during a regular meeting Feb. 12. Voters will cast their ballots toward the three propositions May 4.

The specifics


According to district officials, if all three propositions on the ballot are approved, there will be no tax rate increase to taxpayers.

New Braunfels ISD approves 2024-25 academic calendar

The 2024-25 academic calendar for New Braunfels ISD students and staff has been approved by the NBISD board of trustees.


The details

The Districtwide Education Improvement Council came up with multiple calendar options for the board to consider before recommending one option to the board, Chief of Schools Wade Ivy said.

Comal ISD to maintain current standards for school chaplains


Chaplains will have the ability to volunteer with or be employed by Comal ISD following approval from the board of trustees during a Feb. 22 meeting.

The backstory

With the passage of Senate Bill 763 in the 88th legislative session, chaplains may be employed by or volunteer for a district to provide support, services and programs for students. The bill requires each board in the state to vote on the measure by March 1.
