Sanders was running for single-member District 4. Goodwin, who was running for trustee at-large, said she felt "overwhelmed" at the outcome of the election and wanted to thank not only her opponents but all of her family, friends and supporters.
“You cannot affect the positive change without the voters, and I just really appreciate all the support from the community,” Goodwin told Community Impact. “I am honored to serve as your at-large trustee on the NBISD school board, and I look forward to working with this community to make our school district the safest and the most successful for our community, for our students and all of our staff. Thank you, New Braunfels; Thank you, Comal County, and Go Blue.”
Although she didn't win, candidate Falon Cochran said she was happy with how many people came out and voted for her.
"I tried my best, and it may not have been the results that I wanted, but I'm really happy with how everything turned out," Cochran told Community Impact. "I hope the newest board members do great things, and I wish nothing but the absolute best for them."
Candidate Bill Lewis also wished everyone the best in their new positions.
Sanders said she was excited to have won the election.
"I'm really looking forward to getting to work with the other new school board member and existing members. A couple of them have reached out to me already, so we're ready to hit the ground running when the time comes," Sanders said.
