The Comal ISD board of trustees will host it monthly in-person board meeting June 25 at 6 p.m. at 1404 N. I-35, New Braunfels.

The board will discuss the finalized CISD 2020-21 budget; the name and mascot for the second High School of Choice; and the purchase of furniture, fixtures and equipment for Davenport High School.

Other notable items to be considered by the board include:

  • an update regarding the return to school for the 2020-21 school year and possible restrictions and requirements outlined by Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Education Agency;

  • the possible purchase of new network equipment; and

  • a waiver to allow CISD to become a Texas Virtual School Network provider without completing the traditional course review process and/or the professional development required by the TEA.

On June 18, Abbott announced that students will return to public schools for in-person instruction in the fall, and TEA guidelines released June 23 mandate that districts must offer some form of on-campus instruction.
